Bitcoin Rebooted Released

This is a recommended, but optional, update. A few minor things have changed:

  1. A new checkpoint record has added for basic blockchain security
  2. A new check to verify blocks match our expected version number has been added
  3. Version is now in the debug.log output when a new block is found

Some may have recently been seeing the “Warning: Unknown version flags in effect” message. Apparently somebody has been trying to use a modified client against the blockchain. They found a few blocks, which look legitimate, and which had reasonable block times associated with them – so whatever they were trying didn’t apparently help them. Still, its annoying to see such attempts, so the wallet will now reject those blocks.
